Camera and Gallery

I was finally compelled to buy a web-cam yesterday under the constant insistence of Xae. So I went to the local supermarket, that is right beside my house t see what they had to offer. It turned out they had a sale going out, and when I asked if they had those little cameras that serve as webcams and digital cameras they showed me this one:

James Bond 1 Digital Camera

Is it cool or is it cool? The camera fits inside a zippo-type shell, and also came with a black pocket to place it in for extra protection. You can read more about it here. The camera sparked my attention, since I had seen it on thinkgeek only a few days before, but I was afraid of the price. But I needn’t have worried, the thing was on sale with 70% off retail price, so instead of 100$US it was at 35$US.

I shoulda asked why of course, but the enthusiasm made me buy it and run home with my new buy. When I opened the box (that had caught my attention for being not sealed and slightly old), I discovered that the gadget was missing the USB cable to connect it to the computer. So I grabbed everything up and ran back to the supermarket.

After about 30 minutes of talking to the sales guy and convincing him how I felt I had been conned into buying an open-box product without being told it was missing a piece, my overall helpful disposition (I had even acceded to buying the cable apart), the guy felt pity for me and ran to the storage and got me the cable (for free). I ran home again and connected the camera to my computer. I spent the rest of the day using it as a webcam to chat with friends and Xae, and we even had a video conference.

This morning I even snapped some pictures of my room and myself, and have opened up a gallery section on the blog to post the pictures. I’ll be uploading a lot more in the days to come.
