Lenny Maths!

September 29th, 2005 by Hikaru

Just suppose, for the sake of argument, that you have a large block of stone. While staring at this block of stone, it dawns on you that perhaps you should carve it into something. Luckily, you have a hammer and chisel handy.

But it’s no ordinary hammer and chisel. Somehow, no matter how hard you hit the chisel, exactly one-half of one percent of the block chips off.

How many times do you have to hit the chisel before the block is less than half of its original size? Click here to answer.

This one is either incredibly simple to answer (an thus won’t give much of a prize) or very long like the other math exersizes we’ve seen before. Because of this, I think it would be safe to assume that the one percent they talk about is not always 1% of the whole block, but 1% of what’s left. Taking that into account, it’s time to do some serious calculations!

Good luck!

Fun Images from Google Earth and Maps

September 28th, 2005 by Hikaru

I also found some articles about some interesting pictures taken from either Google Earth and/or Google Map. Most of them showing off interesting pictures of areas that have always been shrouded in mystery. There are a lot of ‘documntation’ pictures of military zones in many countries as well.

Be sure to check out those links then, I assure a fun read and some neat picture viewing. Maybe they’ll inspire you to look for even more interesting sites by downloading Google Earth for yoruself!

Link Value

September 28th, 2005 by Hikaru

I just got a hold of this little feature todayand found it very interesting ideed. Through just entering your website name, it calculates how much you could ask for advertisement links on your site. I have no idea of how accurate it is, but this is the result for this blog:

link value

Also, I checked the values of Mystarseed.com (12.8$) and Deviantart.com (408$) so i think it does actually give a fairly accurate account. The ammount is a monthly value, so that’s what you’d pay for a month of having your links displayed on these pages. Try out your own site by clicking on the button.
