Of Kinetic Scupltures and Winter Colds

June 30th, 2007 by Hikaru

I had so far managed to escape getting sick this year, but after two outings with my dad last week till late and traversing the city, my body, used to sitting in front of my computer till 3am decided staying out till 11pm was bad for it and so I’ve got a sore throat and a mild cold. Luckily I don’t really have to speak much because my voice is almost gone.

Before I head to bed again, I wanted to share this little piece of art I found. It’s a treat for you guys in the mechanics engineering field I think, and reminded me of that flash site where you could make kinetic sculptures. Only these are in the real world, and from what I gather, wind-powered. Fun stuff!

Insanity Levels

June 21st, 2007 by Hikaru

I did this SaniTest and scored 5.5 out of 10…

INSANITY INDEX 5.54 Your score falls solidly in the middle of the spectrum of madness, and it suggests that you may be hebephrenic, a condition marked by silliness, delusions, hallucinations, and puerile behavior. While not usually dangerous, it can be annoying as hell to those around you. Others who scored at this level include Joan of Arc and French philosopher Albert Camus.

I then of course shared it with a friend (Zyo, who was the only one online) and thus conversation ensued.

Zyo says:
XDDD
Zyo says:
INSANITY INDEX 6.95 Thank you for taking the SaniTest(TM). There are regions on the spectrum of human madness that science has yet to penetrate, and you seem to be in one of those regions. You are what mental health professionals call ‘crazed.’ You might be susceptible to hallucinations, so make sure that the people you are talking to actually exist. Others who scored at this level include former
Zyo says:
Russian president Boris Yeltsin and domestic mogul Martha Stewart.
Hikaru says:
XD
Hikaru says:
Zyo… I’m not real
Hikaru says:
I’m actually a figment of your imagination
Zyo says:
XDDD
Hikaru says:
I didn’t want to tell you this before… but you’re actually in an asylum and this is all in your head.
Zyo says:
XDDD I…so…belive that! XD *does laughing*

Yes yes, we’re all insane… In other news… this bag rocks… It’s rather pricey, but imagine having a solar charger for your laptop!!! You wouldn’t have to worry about electricity, just the weather!

White Winter Morning

June 15th, 2007 by Hikaru

The main problem I have with blog posting is that my best ideas for posting, and my narration of them…. happen on the streets while I’m walking to and from class. By the time I get to my computer (or the class computer), the ideas have left me and I get lazy and never get to actually writing them down.

I wanna try and change that tendency.

Maybe then I’ll get a few more visitors here… A girl can dream right?

It’s been raining for about two days now, and stopped last night. It’s also been freezing cold (fact that was accentuated by my lack of gas for my heater yesterday). This meant that my walk to class today was perlious as all the streets and sidewalks were covered in thin sheets of ice. I’m glad to say my shoes did pretty good at keeping me from slipping, I only slipped twice and didn’t fall at all! I did see two cars skid, the second hitting the car in front of it.

It was, however, a very beautiful walk, the trees, leaves and grass white with frost, something that isn’t too common even in winter. I was also amazed when I got to the corner of my street, looking up at the mountains that surround the city. They were all coated in snow, to the very bottom!! The sun had yet to blind me too, so I got a very good view of the beauty that surrounds the city, a sight I know will later be covered in the haze of the city’s smog. But it was beautiful.

I only wish I had a digital camera to share the sights I see on my way to and from university with whoever might happen to read this blog (up till now, I’d say spambots are my number one readers). But alas I haven’t been able to gather the money needed to purchase one for myself. I even managed to somehow use up my birthday money -_-;;

Anyways, I think this pretty long post makes up somewhat for the lack of updates, I’ll try and make more posts in a regular fashion from now on. Let’s see how that goes.
